Welcome Aboard, Data Protection & Privacy Officer

One of the most important - and least visible - roles in digital health today is the Data Protection and Privacy Officer. It’s a role that requires someone who not only understands the law, but also appreciates how that law intersects with real human lives, healthcare decisions, and product experiences. At nymble, this role is especially critical. And today, I’m excited (and proud) to share that Jeremy Hessing-Lewis has joined us as our Data Protection and Privacy Officer.

I’ve had the privilege of working with Jeremy for many years. In every setting - whether it was fast-paced product development, high-stakes regulatory conversations, or just whiteboarding how to design for trust - Jeremy has consistently brought a mix of rigour, humility, and imagination. He has been a close advisor, a thought partner, and more often than not, the sage voice in the room who sees around corners before anyone else.

Jeremy’s background is as multi-dimensional as the challenges we’re solving. He’s a practicing lawyer, privacy expert, and technologist with a foundation in computer science and information systems. He’s worked across fintech, legal tech, and health tech - from advising startups to leading compliance at TELUS Health, to serving as legal counsel at InputHealth, a company I also helped build and scale.

What excites me most, though, is Jeremy’s commitment to using his talents to solve meaningful problems. In a time where AI is accelerating rapidly and health data is more exposed than ever, trust isn’t a soft value - it’s an infrastructure issue. People are being asked to engage with tools they barely understand, and to share intimate health information with systems they’ve never met. If we want AI to support - not undermine - healthcare, we must build from a place of transparency, safety, and respect. This means building an organizational culture that invites critical review and healthy skepticism across product development and operations.

Jeremy will lead nymble’s data protection strategy across privacy, security, accessibility, and patient safety. He’ll also support our enterprise partnerships and regulatory engagements, helping us ensure that every decision we make - from conversation design to compliance- is built for long-term trust.

It’s rare to find someone who can wear the privacy hat, the legal hat, and the strategic product hat all at once - and still show up with humility and clarity. We’re incredibly lucky that Jeremy has chosen to bring that combination to nymble. His presence signals more than just compliance - it signals the kind of future we want to build: one where tools are frictionless, trusted, and genuinely helpful for those navigating obesity, diabetes, and chronic illness.

Welcome, Jeremy. We’re thrilled you’re here.
